We are thrilled to announce John Gallagher as the 2018 Elite Head Coach!
Coach Gallagher began his coaching career while teaching at Framingham High School, where he taught history for 16 years—12 at Framingham High and four at Freehold Boro High School in New Jersey. During that time, he served as Head Coach of the Framingham High Girls Varsity Hockey team from 2004 to 2013. His teams captured a Bay State League title and qualified for the state tournament in six of his nine seasons.
More recently, Coach Gallagher has served as head coach for the 2011 and 2013 Jr. Penguins hockey teams, as well as multiple Belmont Youth Hockey teams. He has also worked as an assistant coach in several other high school sports, including lacrosse, football, and softball, winning state championships in both lacrosse and softball. John is a strong believer in developing well-rounded athletes first.
John’s coaching philosophy centers on building a competitive team while prioritizing player development. At this age level, wins and losses are not the best measure of success.
